Responding to customer demand, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has created a more premium, tech-packed version of the Ram Rebel: the all-new, 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel 12. The new, special-edition model doesn’t lose any of its off-road ability; rather, it pairs them with a slew of new luxury and tech features – most notably, Ram’s new 12-inch Uconnect infotainment screen.
Up until now, the 12-inch Uconnect screen hadn’t been available in the Rebel model. The screen comes loaded with the fourth generation of FCA’s Uconnect infotainment system, featuring enhanced processing power, multi-touch gestures (pinch-to-zoom, for instance), improved visuals, and smartphone integration. Satellite navigation also comes pre-loaded.
The new Ram 1500 Rebel 12 takes things a step further with SiriusXM with 360L – an industry-exclusive feature that provides on-demand content and a more personalized satellite radio experience. It’s coupled with what FCA calls the “finest audio system ever available in a pickup,” with a 900-watt surround-sound amplifier piping sound through 19 premium Harman Kardon speakers – including a 10-inch subwoofer – and active noise cancellation.
There’s some new content outside of the new truck’s entertainment and information systems, too, such as a factory leather-trimmed interior with heated front seats, and unique metal speaker grilles surrounded by Rebel’s signature Radar Red anodized finish.
“Expanding the availability of the segment-leading Uconnect 4C 12-inch touchscreen is a direct response to market demand,” says FCA North America Head of Ram Brand Jim Morrison. “Customers have been asking for additional high-end features on Rebel and now we’re delivering with benchmark technology and materials wrapped in off-road capability.”
The new, 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel 12 will launch in the fourth quarter of this year, starting at $46,990 before destination, and packing the same off-road-ready equipment – factory suspension lift, Bilstein shocks, locking rear differential, 33-inch off-roading tires, etc. – as other Ram Rebel models. Production will take place at the same Sterling Heights Assembly Plant where the rest of the 2019 Ram 1500 lineup is currently built.
