Australians won’t be kept out of Maserati’s high-performance SUV party. The Italian brand confirmed the Maserati Levante GTS will launch in the country.
However, locals will be left waiting for over a year; Motoring reported on Tuesday that the SUV isn’t expected to launch until late 2019. Glen Sealey, chief operating officer of Maserati Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, said pricing and specifications will be published closer to the market launch.
The Levante is priced at $140,000 AUD in Australia for a V6-powered model, and noting Sealey’s comment, the Levante GTS may start at around $250,000 AUD.
Maserati revealed the Levante GTS at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed this past July with the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine found in the hotter Levante Trofeo. Buyers can thank Ferrari for the powerplant, which assembles the engine. The mill is good for 550 horsepower and 0-60 mph will happen in just four seconds, partially in thanks to the Q4 Intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
Although Aussies have begun lining up for the GTS model, according to Sealey, it’s still unclear if the land down under will be graced with the aforementioned Trofeo. The high-performance SUV makes a whopping 590 hp from the same Ferrari-assembled 3.8L twin-turbo V8 engine.
