Apparently FCA’s version of protection is being viewed as a visual mod for Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger owners. Good enough to where it has created a demand in the community, and has opportunistic eBay sellers making a solid flip. These are throw-away air dam covers, people.
These air dam covers are a protective method of preventing shipping damage to the front fascia. Two simple yellow pieces of plastic that are usually removed and thrown away at dealerships -now a trend. Some owners are even going as far as painting the yellow covers to make their Dodge Challenger or Dodge Charger have a slighted custom look.
Of course, anything and everything has to be debated on the internet and these plastic covers have also sparked their ration of drama. Some owners think it’s dumb to sell something that is supposed to be thrown away, some think it looks stupid, while others are concerned with the consequences of leaving them on. However, this has also caught the attention from the offices of Dodge and parent company FCA.
Being that Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger customers are leaving these cheap yellow air dam covers on their vehicles, it makes some sense for the brand to have some fun with it. Possibly through Mopar. We really wouldn’t be surprised if these air dam covers inspire some official accessories during this year’s 2018 SEMA Show.
