Love it or hate it but having a truck means having blind spots. The hardware that can be found in the new 2019 Ram 1500 doesn’t rid of blind spots but sure does help with them. Blind spot monitoring and cross path warning systems offers help for drivers in two different situations, moving forward and going backwards. Seems how those are the only two directions one can go it may be wise to trust the technology embedded in the new Ram.
Blind spot monitoring and cross path detection are two different functions that come out of the same hardware. Going forward the blind spot monitoring is active. It gives drivers a warning both visually and audibly if someone is hiding in a blind spot while the blinker signal is on. When in reverse, the rear cross path system detects traffic and will alert the driver if there is anything is sight. As trucks are getting bigger and longer this means the drivers vision is also being challenged. Believe it or not, as mentioned previously, the technology placed in the rear of the new Ram 1500 may actually see well better than you.
