The current Chrysler Pacifica has been named “Family Car of Texas” by the Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA) each and every year since its introduction, and this year is no different. At the 2018 Texas Auto Roundup, hosted at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas, the Chrysler Pacifica chalked up its third consecutive win in the competitive “Family Car of Texas” category, also winning “Minivan of Texas” for a third straight year while the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid PHEV was named “Green Car of Texas” for a second consecutive year.
The Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid were decided the winners in these three categories by a group of 49 automotive journalist TAWA members, who evaluated a total of 46 vehicles at the 2018 Texas Auto Roundup over the course of two days. Both the standard and plug-in-hybrid Pacifica models are powered by Fiat Chrysler’s trusty 3.6L “Pentastar” V6, mated to a 9-speed automatic in the case of the standard minivan, or a CVT in the case of the PHEV. Even without using its pure-electric mode, the latter delivers fuel economy on the order of 32 mpg in mixed driving, according to EPA estimates.
“The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica won our Family Car of Texas award by an overwhelming majority vote,” says TAWA President Michael Marrs. “For the third year in a row, our members were impressed with Pacifica’s combination of technology, styling, functionality, versatility and family-friendly features.”
The Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid have earned a slew of awards since they launched in the US, including Cars.com’s “Best Vehicle of 2017” and the Atlanta Automotive Media Association’s 2017 “Best Family Car”.
