Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ Ram Trucks brand has unveiled a special new edition of the light-duty Ram 1500 pickup that celebrates this year’s 144th running of the Kentucky Derby, which will take place May 5th. The 2019 Ram 1500 “Kentucky Derby Edition” is based on the range-topping Limited model, and commemorates the Ram Trucks brand’s ninth consecutive year as the Official Truck of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby.
The new Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition is marked by “Run for the Roses” derby graphics on the box sides, plus the first appearance of Ivory White Tri Coat paint. Five other colors – Delmonico Red, Diamond Black Crystal, Granite Crystal, Max Steel, and Patriot Blue – are also available, and the limited-edition truck is the first all-new Ram 1500 to offer a body-colored appearance package.
Beyond its unique appearances, the 2019 Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition also ships with a 12-inch touchscreen with Uconnect and navigation; full-leather front and rear reclining seats with heating and cooling; and handsome wood and metal interior trim. Ram’s auto-leveling air suspension, power running boards, trailer hitch with sway control, and blind spot monitoring with automatic trailer detection are also included.
Just 2,000 examples of the Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition will be built for 2019, each with a starting price of $53,190 before destination.
“The Kentucky Derby has long been among America’s most cherished sporting events,” says FCA Head of Ram Trucks brand Mike Manley. “The close ties between Ram trucks and the equine community have led us to the introduction of the 2019 Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition. The Ram 1500 is a no-compromise truck that delivers capability, durability, technology and safety and is well-suited to meet the needs of all kinds of owners, including those who love horses.”
