It’s human nature to laugh at someone who’s been fooled by their own hubris, but there’s a fine line between laughing with someone and laughing at someone. This video, which shows a Dodge Viper pulling a 180 while leaving Cars and Coffee, demonstrates why the latter can sometimes make you look rudely apathetic.
To be clear, the driver of this Adrenaline Red Dodge Viper may have deserved to have his ego checked after attempting to hoon on public roads. That said, we couldn’t help but to feel bad for the fella as a swarm of “phone zombies,” as YouTube commenters refer to them, flocked to the side of Dodge sports car, many of them roaring in exaggerated laughter.
At the core, a lot of the reactions we see are nothing more than embellished Schadenfreude, which is a German psychological term for the sense of enjoyment one feels when witnessing another’s misfortune.
We hope the driver gets to enjoy the car again soon, and that they learned something from this embarrassing moment. We also hope this recent, Mustang-like behavior of wrecking on the way out of Cars and Coffee shows isn’t a new stereotypical trend for the Dodge Viper.
