Here we see Jay Leno take a closer look at the Swedish-built 1968 Dodge Charger RTR. You may recognize this Charger from SEMA, where it made its debut. For those who have never seen this classic Dodge before: behold, a properly restored beast, only this one’s got a twin-turbocharged Viper V10 under the hood.
That turbocharged V10 pumps out about 1,000 horsepower, making the Dodge Charger RTR a deadly weapon. When the owner, Johan Eriksson, got his hands on the car, it was a retired race car in deplorable condition. So, what you see before you is the result of a five-year restoration. From where we sit, this Dodge Charger looks as good as it is fast, which is something we can appreciate.
Eriksson wanted to make sure the car kept its “soul,” and we think he and his team did a great job of doing just that. The attention to detail is superb, just wait until you see the touch they made to the underside of the trunk lid, not to mention the show quality of the entire car.
At less than 20 minutes, it isn’t a terribly long watch, and it’s certainly worth the time if you’ve got a hankering for classic American muscle cars. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
