With a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price of $84,995, the new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is hardly a bargain, and certainly a car well beyond what the average American buyer can swing. But given the car’s rarity (only 3,000 are planned for production), lofty performance figures (840 horsepower on race gas, anyone?), and undeniable curb appeal, some dealer markup above and beyond that price is inevitable.
But according to Top Speed, one dealership – Custom Cars West in Sheridan, Colorado – got particularly carried away, listing a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon for sale with a stratospheric price tag of $176,398. The car is now listed as “sold” on the dealer’s website, with no price specified, so we can’t verify that for ourselves, but we do hope that whoever bought it managed to negotiate a better deal than the $91k markup originally offered.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon in question was painted B5 Blue, according to the dealer, and featured a black interior with houndstooth cloth seats. None of that explains or justifies the $176k asking price, but we suppose its 840 horsepower and instant notoriety do help a bit.
