Ram is a crown jewel of FCA and a lot rides on the next-generation pickups. We know a lot about the 2019 Ram 1500, but the Heavy Duty variants remain shrouded in mystery. But, for the first time, spy photographers snapped the next-generation Ram Heavy Duty testing in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The spy shots show a more conventional Ram design and the headlights look similar to the ones in place today. The grille also looks nearly identical to the current Ram Heavy Duty. But, these might simply be tricks to skew what’s really going on underneath the camouflage. We can assume the same major interior changes to the Ram 1500 will make their way to the Heavy Duty trucks as well.
We also don’t have any additional details on the powertrain, either. Right now, Ram remains at the head of the class with 930 pound-feet of torque.
We’ll see the 2019 Ram 1500 make its debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, but the Ram Heavy Duty models will likely hold out until sometime in 2019.
