Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling some units of the 2013-2017 Ram Heavy Duty trucks with 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engines over an issue with the water pump that could cause the pump to leak coolant.
The defect: affected vehicles are equipped with water pumps that may leak coolant.
The hazards: a leaking water pump can increase the risk of an engine compartment fire.
- 2013-2017 Ram 2500
- 2013-2017 Ram 3500
- 2013-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis
- 2013-2017 Ram 4500 Cab Chassis
- 2013-2017 Ram 5500 Cab Chassis
All of the affected vehicles are equipped with Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel engines that have Concentric-brand water pumps without a vent hole.
Number of vehicles affected: 443,712 (United States figure).
The fix: FCA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the water pumps, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 1st, 2017.
