Alfa Romeo remains king of the Nürburgring after the Giulia Quadrifoglio clocked a 7:32 time in 2016, but Jaguar has something to say about that.
According to Autocar, the brand was caught testing the XE SV Project 8 at the Nürburgring and Jaguar has one goal: be the fastest production four-door car around The Green Hell. If there’s any sedan up to the task, it’s the XE SV Project 8. The car comes from Jaguar-Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) and boasts a 592 horsepower 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine. With the massive V8 engine stuffed into the brand’s compact sport sedan, it became Jaguar’s most powerful road-going car to date.
The sprint from 0-60 mph takes just 3.3 seconds and speeds top out at 200 mph. And unlike regular XEs, SVO outfitted the XE SV Project 8 with a bespoke body to fit the 305 tires at the rear. Additionally, aluminum and carbon fiber are present to save weight.
The Project 8 is clearly more track-focused than the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, but it remains to be seen if the Italian stallion holds its ground. If not, we’ll start the petition for an even hotter Giulia Quadrifoglio at a moment’s notice.
