Fiat Chrysler Australia is recalling the Fiat Ducato over an issue with the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system. The Ducato is sold as the Ram ProMaster in the U.S.
The defect: the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) pipe may break due to a potential non-conformity.
The hazards: if the pipe breaks, there is a risk that exhaust gases may escape into the vehicle engine bay, rather than being contained within the exhaust system. This may also result in a reduction of engine power, causing a lack of drivability in some instances.
Affected vehicles: Fiat Ducato 2.3L F1A E6 with M38/M40 transmission.
Number of vehicles affected: 700.
The fix: the dealer will inspect the EGR pipe and determine if a replacement EGR pipe is necessary. The inspection/repair will be carried out at no cost to the owner.
Owners should: FCA Australia will notify owners of affected vehicles who can then schedule a service booking with their nearest authorized Fiat Professional dealer.
