Dodge won’t build its own Charger Demon, but that hasn’t stopped a shop from building its own. The guys and gals over at The Racing Channel recently put their modified Charger Hellcat on the dyno and it made demonic power figures, thanks to Gearhead Fabrications.
With just a few bolt-on parts and a custom tune, the Charger Hellcat turned Charger Demon made 826 horsepower and 736 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. It’s possible this car is making closer to 900 hp at the crank then, which would actually be more than a factory Dodge Challenger Demon and it’s racing street gasoline, not 100 octane race fuel.
Of course, the Challenger Demon’s charm in part comes from the fact it’s a factory-built drag racing machine, and its engine is hardly an over-boosted Hellcat mill. Dodge says it re-engineered 60 percent of the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8’s engine for the Demon.
As they say, four-doors are more fun. We’re eager to see how it performs at the track.
