Arguably one of Fiat-Chrysler’s most important products, the Ram 1500 will finally see a redesign when it’s revealed at the 2018 North American International Auto Show this coming January. But, the internet has spoiled the 2019 Ram 1500’s redesign ahead of time.
Spy shots show the 2019 Ram 1500 nearly naked and reveal the truck’s front and rear bumper. As we expected, the 2019 Ram 1500 is very evolutionary and sharpens the truck’s current design. Dare we say it’s almost a tad… predictable? The current Ram is a handsome hauler, but we’ll save our final judgment for in-person impressions.
The front end features a more hexagonal grille with swashes of chrome on the bumper and grille surround. Sharper headlights are in place, too, and the 2019 Ram 1500 features big hood-mounted badges declaring this particular model features 5.7-liter Hemi V8 power. At the rear, the new taillights are more modern looking and chrome once again finds a home on the rear bumper.
With the shots, we know a V8 engine will stick around, but the bigger question is what other engines will find a home under the hood. Previous reports indicate a turbocharged V6 engine and even a hybrid may be in the cards. Interior spy shots show a rotary selector for the transmission, which means an eight-speed automatic is likely present.
Ram will face tough competition when the 2019 model goes on sale next year. Both Chevrolet and GMC will introduce the 2019 Silverado and Sierra, and Ford will update the F-150 as well. But, Ram has done an excellent job at chipping away both rivals’ market share. Only time will tell if the 2019 Ram 1500 is a worthy successor. From the looks of it, we expect it will be.
