Alfa Romeo’s reentry into North America has been a long-awaited one. With the Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover on sale to anchor traditional buyers, the Italian marque’s product plans are finally beginning to flesh out.
Next up for Alfa Romeo is likely a mid-size coupe, according to Automotive News. The publication states 2018 will be the next big year for Alfa Romeo when it introduces a Giulia-based coupe. The Alfa Romeo mid-size coupe will directly compete with the BMW 4-Series and Audi A5 when it debuts in late 2018.
Initial sales of the Alfa Romeo Giulia has been slow to start, but the brand has shrugged the figures off. Alfa Romeo brass insists they are using a number of other indicators to judge success with Alfa Romeo and admitted they aren’t out to score any sales crowns.
A mid-size coupe will hardly be a volume seller, but it could very well be another aspirational vehicle to put buyers into a more pedestrian Stelvio crossover. Speaking of crossovers, the brand also plans for a larger one to slot above the Stelvio, but when it will debut is unknown at this time.
