If you like Ferrari vehicles and are an avid cyclist, then you’re going to absolutely love what’s next. Behold, the first-ever SF01 road bike by Ferrari and Bianchi, the world’s oldest bicycle manufacturing company.
The SF01 road bike is the result of the Bianchi for Scuderia Ferrari project, and was recently unveiled at the Eurobike trade show in Germany, where both Ferrari and Bianchi received praise for their collaborative efforts.
Now you might look at this and think, “wow, a bicycle, how innovative,” but this isn’t like any bike sold in the sporting goods store. There remains a consumer base for high-end bikes such as this, so Ferrari selected Bianchi as a partner because the company’s top-class reputation and expertise in performance bicycle development and engineering meet the technical excellence of Scuderia Ferrari Racing Team.
“It is not about rebadging Bianchi bicycles,” said Bianchi spokesman Claudio Masnata. “It is about designing and creating new pieces of art and performance.”
So what makes the SF01 road bike so special? For starters, it’s comprised of high-performance road carbon, making it an ultralight 780 grams, which is less than 2 pounds (no, that’s not a typo). Despite this lightweight the bike is still rigid with a stiff carbon frame engineered with Countervail vibration cancelling technology, allowing for maximum power and control.
That said, what’s function without form? The SF01 road bike is hand-painted and features components designed by Italian style, such as the Fulcrum Speed 40C Carbon wheels with Scuderia Ferrari custom graphics and carbon hubs. The seat is even made from the same 3k carbon used for Ferrari single-seaters’ seats. If all these goodies aren’t enough for you, there are also two different liveries offered, the Campagnolo Super Record EPS and Shimano Dura Ace Di2 finish.
Huh, who knew bicycles could get so intricate?
