Dodge partner Pennzoil just put out the latest in a series of mini films centered on high-performance Mopar vehicles, debuting a new video at last weekend’s Roadkill Nights in Pontiac, Michigan starring SRT’s latest potent showstopper: the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.
“Exorcising the Demon” is two-and-a-half minutes of aggressive, up-tempo driving on dimly-lit city streets in the new, 808-horsepower Challenger SRT Demon, shot with the same attention to detail, artful camera work, and engrossing sound as you’d find in any great contemporary Hollywood chase scene. With the volume suitably cranked, the roar and whine of the supercharged, 6.2-liter V8 are nearly as visceral and rousing as in real life. It’s an A-level follow-up to Pennzoil’s last mini film: a passionate farewell to the Dodge Viper.
What we’re most interested in, however, is the ending of the video. In it, the anonymous driver sends a text message that reads: “The Demon is back in its place.” The response from the message’s recipient: “Das good. How are you in the Ring?” This is clearly a hint at the content of Pennzoil’s next promotional mini film, and since we fail to see how the filmmakers could casually work Dodge product into a video centered on illegal bare-knuckle boxing, we understand “the Ring” to mean the mother of all rings: the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife race track in Germany.
Is Pennzoil planning to take the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to Nürburg for its next mini film? We can’t wait to find out.
