In a recent interview with Motor Trend, CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that FCA will unveil the 2019 Ram 1500 pickup at the 2018 North American International Auto Show. The next-generation Ram will then hit the market closely after its debut.
We’ve already heard a lot about the 2019 Ram 1500, for instance, it is suspected to have a steel body and offer a turbocharged Pentastar V6. We’ve also seen leaked dealer photos, along with plenty of spy shots, which revealed a bigger size, newly-designed light fixtures, and possibly a trick ‘barn door’ style tailgate of sorts.
Marchionne also discussed Maserati’s role as the electrification pioneer for the FCA brand, and plans for more than half of its portfolio to be electrified by 2022.
Unfortunately Marchionne’s retirement means he won’t get to see the outcome of this five-year growth plan, and word is that the company is currently looking internally for a replacement. At least he’ll be here in January for the world premier of the 2019 Ram 1500.
