We weren’t sure about the whole, Cummins-in-a-Ford chimera project at first, but you really have to try hard to not appreciate this 1949 Ford Pickup running a Cummins swap with a compound-turbo setup. Between the massive turbos, intricate piping, and rough finish, this Ford is one intimidating mean machine, and its output of 1,233 horsepower and over 2,000 pound-feet of torque to the real wheels means it’s as fast as it looks.
The massive turbochargers actually make the 1,200-pound Cummins diesel engine look relatively small. Altogether the truck weighs about 3,600 pounds, which isn’t much for all of that power. Unfortunately no one knows how fast it is just yet, as the transmission failed during a Shift Sector roll racing event.
There’s no questioning this thing’s ability to burn rubber, though. Hit play and jump to 11:58 if you’d like to see what we mean.
