Scuderia Ferrari F1 driver Sebastian Vettel finished fourth at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend, just beating out rival Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton in a heated race. Fellow Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen didn’t finish, incurring damage from debris left on the track when Force India teammates Esteban Ocon and Sergio Pérez collided, some time after another incident with Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas on the first lap.
After the event, Vettel still leads in the championship standings with 153 points, with Hamilton lagging behind in second with 139.
Tensions were high during the race when, under safety on the 20th lap, Hamilton exited corner 16 slowly enough that Vettel rear-ended his car. As retribution, Vettel pulled alongside Hamilton and purposefully swerved to hit him. The heated exchange only resulted in a 10-second stop-and-go penalty for Sebastian Vettel, leaving Hamilton miffed.
The next event on the 2017 F1 calendar is the Großer Preis von Österreich at the Red Bull Ring, July 9th.
