Jeep’s had trouble keeping the Wrangler JL and the accompanying Wrangler JT pickup truck under wraps. The vehicles have been spied on a number of occasions, the grille has been revealed in leaked images and one prototype was even caught by photographers in downtown Los Angeles after the driver was pulled over by the LAPD.
Now we’ve been able to get a very good idea at what the Wrangler JT pickup will look like thanks to some expert renderings by the folks over at JLJeepWranglerForums. They used spy photos and insider knowledge to create what is thought to be a very accurate recreation of the Jeep pickup, which is due to arrive in mid 2019 following the SUV’s debut later this year.
The Wrangler JT is expected to share many styling cues with the Wrangler JL including the fender-mounted LED running lights, LED headlamps, redesigned removable roof panels and Jeep’s seven-slot grille, of course. The powertrains are also expected to be shared, which according to rumors means a 3.6-liter V6, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and eventually a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 will be in store. An eight-speed automatic transmission should be the only transmission option, but a six-speed manual doesn’t seem entirely out of question.
