In collaboration with Dealertrack Canada, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has become the first OEM auto manufacturer to provide an online retailing solution in Canada.
By doing so, it allows customers to pre-qualify and apply for financing on both new and used vehicles, and use an enhanced payment estimator for actual vehicles on dealer lots. The ability to offer additional features such as a trade-in estimator, as well as the ability to reserve a vehicle with a deposit and purchase service packages, is in the works.
“Today’s consumers have high expectations from their online experience,” said Bill Levasseur, Vice President Sales & Marketing, FCA Canada. “They are extremely well-informed and want control to purchase quickly, with security, accuracy and transparency. Our goal with the dealer website enhancements is to make the car buying experience easier by providing useful, integrated tools which simplify the process and provide consumers peace of mind.”
A Google Stats survey shows that 90 percent of Canadian new vehicle shoppers use online tools and resources in the purchase process. The enhanced websites should also save folks plenty of time, though they’ll still need to go to the dealership to finalize the transaction. A website will be available for participating dealerships, which includes roughly 90 percent of FCA dealerships in Canada.
And presto, Canadians can now purchase brand new Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Alfa Romeo and other vehicles right from their laptops. The news comes off the heels of the company enjoying its best sales month in Canada, ever.
