The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio promises to have the quickest Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of any production SUV – a record that currently belongs to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, which turned out a 7:59 lap back in 2015. As of right now, we’ve no clue whether Alfa has been successful in its quest to make the quickest SUV in the world as the Fiat Chrysler brand has yet to disclose an official lap time, but recent video of the Stelvio QV lapping the Nordschleife in a right hurry leads us to believe that FCA is drawing closer to announcing one.
The SUV Nordschleife record certainly ought to be well within reach of the new Stelvio QV, which shares the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s Giorgio platform and turbocharged, 2.9-liter V6. The high-performance sedan managed a 7:39 lap back in 2015, which represented a four-door world record at the time, and while the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is obviously taller and heavier, that the QV shares the same brilliant platform and 505-horsepower mill bodes well for the crossover.
