Ram has become increasingly competitive with both Ford and Chevrolet this year, and horned-badge brand isn’t slowing down. In fact, it’s doubling down.
The 2018 Ram Tungsten Edition has been revealed and it’s looking squarely at GMC’s Denali sub-brand. Loaded with high-quality materials and plenty of standard, premium features, the Ram Tungsten Edition builds upon the Ram’s Limited trim.
Most of the notable improvements are found inside the Ram Tungsten Edition. A suede headliner with splashes of indigo and frost-colored leather are present throughout the cabin. Ram also says the suede headliner is a segment first. The same leather hues can also be found on the dashboard, seats, center console, steering wheel and doors. It’s a calm, very premium look for the Ram.
Outside, styling changes are subtle but appreciated for a premium pickup truck. The massive RAM grille is finished in tungsten chrome and the bumpers, mirrors, door handles and running boards are finished in a body-matching color. The headlights are also finished with black surrounds. At the rear of the truck, a few additional splashes of tungsten chrome are present.
Standard features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, remote start, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and power-adjustable pedals with memory function. As it should include for a starting price of $55,120 for the 1500 model.
Speaking of models, Ram will be happy to offer you a Tungsten Edition in a multitude of configurations. The premium outfittings may be applied to Ram 1500, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 single- and dual-rear-wheel; Crew Cab and Mega Cab (Heavy Duty); four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive; and short- and long-wheelbase models.
Expect the price to climb the larger the truck, but if today’s market conditions have said anything, it’s that buyers are ready and willing to, well, pick up a loaded pickup.
