Spy shots of a widebody Dodge Challenger Hellcat have surfaced, potentially signalling the arrival of a widebody Hellcat that isn’t the 808 horsepower Challenger SRT Demon.
The spy shots, hosted over at Road & Track, show a widebody Challenger Hellcat with Hellcat badges and a Hellcat hood, rather than Demon badges and the Demon’s ‘Air Grabber’ hood. R&T has it on good authority that a widebody version of the standard, 707 horsepower Hellcat is on the way and will arrive sometime this summer.
Such an offering will appeal to those who like the widebody look of the Demon but aren’t interested in drag-racing oriented things like road-legal drag slicks, special suspension geometry, a race gas function and a gutted out interior. Additionally, we get the feeling the majority of SRT buyers are just fine with the Hellcat’s 707 horsepower, so now they can get the more muscly look of the Demon without the extra 101 horsepower that comes along with it.
