Last year Ram Trucks entered an official partnership with Kentucky Derby venue Churchill Downs to serve as the official truck of the horse racing facility. The automaker is expanding on its Churchill Downs Kentucky Derby partnership in 2017, with the winning trainer of the 143rd running of the annual event set to receive a one-of-a-kind Ram 2500.
The truck to be gifted to the race winner is the first and only custom ‘Derby edition’ Ram 2500. It will be set apart from standard versions of the heavy-duty pickup by a unique Brilliant Black exterior color, blue ‘143rd Kentucky Derby’ logos on the rear quarter panels and a hand-painted Kentucky Derby rose badge on the front grille.
“Ram trucks are the perfect match for horse owners, trainers and riders, and partnering with America’s premiere racing events is a great way to demonstrate our commitment to these customers,” said Ram brand boss Mike Manley. “With the longest-lasting pickup trucks on the market and class-leading capabilities, Ram trucks are well-deserving of the ‘Official Truck of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby’ status.”
In addition to the derby-themed truck, Ram will have special on-site product displays at Churchill Downs on the day of the races in addition to branding on gate crew and staff uniforms and branding on certain jockeys’ jerseys. The brand will also run television ads during coverage of the derby and will post about the event on its various social media channels with the hastag #RamDerby.
Ram isn’t just giving away a truck to the winning trainer. In partnership with TwinSpires.com, the brand will also give those at home a chance to win a 2017 Ram 3500 by predicting the first-four finishers in this yer’s Kentucky Derby. The contest is free to enter and doesn’t involving any wagering or betting. interested parties can visit www.derbytruck.com for more information.
