Shortly after the vehicle’s debut, Fiat Chrysler pledged the 2018 Dodge Demon would be priced well under $100,000. Yesterday they made good on their word – announcing a sticker of $84,995 before destination, but is that a cheap enough price for some of the middle-class Mopar fans who want to get their hands on the car?
We think $85,000 is a very fair price to ask for such a product. The Demon isn’t just a more powerful Challenger Hellcat with some fender flares and wide tires – it’s essentially a road-going drag car. With its Torque Reserve and TransBrake launch functions, specialized‘Demon Crate’ (which includes a PCM for running race gas and skinny front ‘cheater slicks’) and stripped out interior, it’s a unique offering for a very certain kind of customer. A customer that’s willing to pay for such a product.
What might drive Demon prices up is the limited availability. Hype for the car seems strong and just 3,300 units will leave FCA’s Brampton, Ontario assembly plant, so it seems likely any dealer that gets their hands on one will want more than $85k for it. Some dealers charged well over sticker for the Challenger and Charger Hellcat early on in the production cycle, but Dodge was quick to try and put a stop to it.
