The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL has been rumored to arrive with an updated cabin that is more modern and upscale than the current Wrangler JK’s and new spy photos from JL Wrangler Forums have confirmed those suspicions.
The spy photos show the front section of the cabin including the dashboard, front roof section and driver’s and front passenger’s seats. The most eye-catching feature is the large 8.4-inch UConnect screen, which like other Chrysler UConnect systems will be Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible. The entry-level screen is expected to be 5-inches, with a 7-inch screen bridging the gap to the 8.4-inch unit.
Below the infotainment screen is a new grouping of buttons for the audio controls, HVAC and powertrain. Three knobs control the audio volume, infotainment screen actions and HVAC, which are joined by buttons for the traction control, heated steering wheel, front axle disconnect, auto-start stop and parking sensors, among more. The roof includes integrated garage door opener buttons, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a manual release lever for the folding roof.
The Wrangler JL that was photographed appears to be a six-speed manual example, with the gear lever being joined by transfer case shifter directly to its left. A small, chunky steering wheel with a modern design is also present and is flanked by circular dash gauges and circular HVAC vents. The passenger side dashboard grab handle has returned, while A-pillar and B-pillar grab handles are also present.
