The Ferrari F12 TdF only arrived in customers hands in early 2016, but already one of the rare, track-focused front-engine supercars is looking for a new home.
RM Sotheby’s is to auction off a rare F12 TdF at its upcoming Villa Erba auction from Lake Como, Italy. The vehicle, which is one of just 799 built, is finished in a historic ‘Blue Swaters’ exterior color and features a black Alcantara interior with contrasting Blue stitching. The original buyer selected a handful of desirable factory options, including yellow brake calipers, carbon-fiber headlight and fog lamp housings, carbon fiber interior trim, the unique digital passenger display and the upgraded sound system with Bluetooth and navigation. A front-suspension lifter and front and rear parking cameras were also wisely optioned.
According to RM Sotheby’s. this F12 TdF has been “used sparingly,” since it was first delivered last year. It shows just 3,000 kilometers on its odometer and is presented in “as-new” condition. The auction presents a rare opportunity for some, as Ferrari would have carefully selected which of its customers were worthy to buy the highly sought after and limited production F12 TdF. We imagine there’s a Ferrari buyer out there that got snubbed trying to purchase the car new that would love to get behind the wheel now.
The F12 TdF, or ‘Tour De France’, was first shown at the end of 2015. A successor to the legendary 599 GTO, it’s essentially a more track-focused version of the F12 on which it’s based. As such, it features a 770 horsepower version of Ferrari’s 6.3-liter V12 engine along with a rear-wheel steering system, revised aerodynamics with more downforce and a quicker shifting transmission, among much more.
RM Sotheby’s expects this F12 TdF to sell for anywhere between €750,000-€800,000 (around $820,000-$875,000 USD). Considering the rarity of this car and the fact that it’s a model that hardly ever comes up for sale, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it fetch €1,000,000 when it crosses the auction block on May 27th.
