VLF Automotive pulled the wraps off of its Dodge Viper-based VLF Force 1 sportscar at the 2017 North American International in Detroit this year and last month announced it would debut a roadster variant at the Shanghai Motor Show in April. Now the Force 1 Roadster has been photographed while en route to Shanghai’s convention center, revealing the two-seater convertible well ahead of its scheduled debut.
The VLF Force 1 Roadster is essentially the same as the hardtop version of the coupe that it’s based on, sharing the majority of its components with the Dodge Viper – save for its coachbuilt body. The American-built sportscar also features exclusive split four-spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires, carbon fiber interior trim, Alcantara seating upholstery and champagne holders between the front seats.
The Force 1 hardtop is more powerful than the Viper, boasting a 745 horsepower version of the vehicle’s 8.4-liter V10 engine that is available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. We’re expecting the same engine to be offered in the Force 1 Roadster, but unlike the coupe, it probably won’t be propelling the roadster to a top speed of 218 mph. Due to the aerodynamic limitations brought on by a roofless vehicle, the top speed will likely be somewhere in the 210 mph range.
More information on the VLF Force 1 Roadster should become available following its debut in Shanghai on April 19th.
