Jeep looks set to debut a new concept vehicle at the upcoming 2017 Shanghai Motor Show later this month.
Teaser images of the concept appeared on Chinese car forum Autohome with Chinese text laid over top that, according to Motor1, translates to “Shanghai Auto Show, April 19. We’ll see you there.”
The futuristic-looking concept vehicle appears to be a small to mid-size crossover with contemporary design cues such as thin LED headlamps and black painted A-, B- and C-pillars. We’re seeing a lot of the Jeep Compass in these images, though it does appear to be a larger than the new compact crossover.
According to Indian Autos Blog, the Jeep concept is classified as a ‘New Energy Vehicle’ in China, meaning it’s either a hybrid or an EV. We’re willing to bet it’s a hybrid, but it seems plausible that it will feature the same electric powertrain as the Chrysler Portal concept, which is powered by a single electric motor and a 100 kWh lithium ion battery pack.
More information on Jeep’s new concept for China will become available following its debut later this month.
