New sketches obtained by Motor 1 show the new hybrid model in full, revealing its high riding, boxy look. The concept will reportedly be called the K8 Hybrid and will share a platform with the Jeep Cherokee. It’s not clear what the powertrain will be, but seeing as FCA has said it will use the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid’s 16 kWh hybrid powertrain in other applications, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was employed here.
The K8 Hybrid signals the arrival of a hybrid three-row Jeep model that will likely be for Asian markets only. Jeep already builds the Cherokee locally and seeing as cabin space is of utmost importance to Chinese car shoppers, it would make sense for the automaker to invest in a fuel-efficient, extended wheelbase version to cater to their tastes.
