Fiat Chrysler today celebrated the opening of a new Mopar Parts Distribution Center in Winchester, Virginia, which is the result of a $12.2 million dollar investment by the Italian-American automaker.
The 400,000 square-foot parts distribution center, which is the first of two facilities of its kind to be erected this year, has added more than 70 jobs to the Winchester area. It will handle more than 50,000 Mopar part numbers and will distribute parts to more than 200 FCA dealerships located across the Mid-Atlantic region. FCA estimates it will ship 9.2 million components annually.
“We are celebrating our 80th anniversary in 2017, and throughout the years customer satisfaction has been and continues to be the Mopar brand’s No. 1 priority,” said Mopar head of parts and service Pietro Gorlier. “This new Parts Distribution Center builds upon our mission, allowing us to more quickly and efficiently serve our dealers and customers, delivering the parts they need, when they need them. This is our 22nd PDC in North America and we’ll continue to expand our distribution network as the parts and accessories business keeps growing.”
Mopar’s Winchesterfacility expands the parts brand’s current distribution network to a total of 22 facilities in North America and over 50 worldwide (including joint ventures with other businesses). The brand will extend its parts disctribution centers to 23 in North America by the fourth-quarter of this year when construction on its $10.4 million Romulus, Michigan facility is complete.
