Bob Lutz and Henrik Fisker partnered up to produce the VLF Force 1, a coachbuilt Dodge Viper-based sportscar that is for sale through Ben Keating’s ViperExchange dealership. Now, VLF has announced plans to unveil a roadster variant of the limited edition sportscar at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show in April.
Just like hardtop Force 1, which was first shown at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, the Force 1 roadster will be based on the Dodge Viper but will feature VLF’s own carbon fiber bodywork. The automaker released a sketch of the Force 1 roadster (above) which appears to show a black folding soft top roof and side-exit exhausts.
VLF managed to extract an extra 100 horsepower and 38 lb-ft of torque from the Viper’s 8.4-liter V10 in the hardtop Force 1, and even more power could be on tap for the roadster, but we’re just speculating. The hardtop was available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic and it’s likely both of these options will be offered with the roadster as well.
More information on the Viper-based VLF Force 1 roadster should become available as its debut in Shanghai nears.
