Alfa Romeo’s next all-new product will be an SUV that will slot either above or below the compact Stelvio crossover.
Alfa Romeo brand boss Reid Bigland told Autocar that future Alfa products will be approved based on the vehicle’s respective segment’s popularity. The automaker is currently in the process of analyzing global appeal for subcompact and mid-size SUVs, which is why it remains undecided on which of the products to begin work on.
Due to the vehicles’ limited appeal in what are currently the world’s largest car buying markets (the U.S. and China) it seems most likely that Alfa will drop a mid-size SUV to slot above the Stelvio next. The brand intends to discontinue the MiTo and Giulietta hatchbacks, which appears to display a sentiment to invest in larger vehicles with wider profit margins.
