Fiat Chrysler is expanding its hot hatchback lineup at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with the introduction of the new Abarth 595 Pista.
The 595 Pista (Pista being Italian for ‘track’) lives up to its name with numerous track-focused add-ons such as Koni rear shocks, ventilated brake discs and a dual-mode Record Monza sports exhaust system with quad tips. Most interesting, however, is the addition of the Abarth Telemetry system, which allows the driver to upload maps of famous racetracks such as Spa Francorchamps and receive real-time data and driving tips.
The hot hatch is powered by the same 160 horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged engine as the standard Abarth 595 and come standard with the automaker’s five-speed manual transmission. For those who would rather do away with a third pedal, a six-speed automatic with shift paddles is also available. Abarth says the 595 Pista will accelerate from 0-62 mph in 7.3 seconds before toping out at 134 mph.
Other features exclusive to the 595 Pista include optional colored front and rear bumper inserts, colored mirror caps and black, red or yellow brake calipers. The door handles are also finished in dark titanium, as is the ‘595 Pista’ badge on the rear hatch. Optional extras consist of bi-xenon headlamps, tinted rear windows, a dimming rearview mirror and an electric glass sunroof for hardtop versions.
Pricing for the Abarth 595 Pista has yet to be announced. More information may become available following its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show next month.
