The Alfa Romeo Giulia was recently pitted against every single one of its luxury segment rivals in a recent Motor Trend comparison and, not surprisingly, the test resulted in the Giulia adding more hardware to its already full trophy case.
The test was for compact and mid-size luxury vehicles that are offered with $399 lease deals in the United States. In addition the Giulia, Motor Trend rounded up a Jaguar XE, BMW 330i, Audi A4, Infiniti Q60, Volvo S60, Mercedes C300, Lexus IS and Cadillac ATS for the comparison.
Motor Trend found the Giulia, offered in 280 horsepower Ti spec for $399 a month, to be “efficient, economical, quick, safe, and without question the most fun to drive,” of the vehicles it rounded up for the test. The magazine acknowledged Alfa Romeo and Fiat Chrysler’s poor track record for quality and expressed some worry that the Giulia may prove to be unreliable going forward, but concluded they were “willing to gamble,” and hand it the $399 lease deal crown.
The runner up in the comparison test was the Audi A4, which was lauded for its overall competency but docked points for its uninspiring driving characteristics. The Mercedes C300 was third, with Motor Trend complimenting its luxurious interior but criticizing its stiff ride and relatively expensive MSRP.
