The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has already received high praise from the man himself, Jeremy Clarkson. Now the network that booted old Clarkson from the show he essentially created has gotten its hands on the 505 horsepower Alfa – and they’ve pitted it against one its main rivals, the BMW M3.
With Clarkson gone, the internet’s favorite powerslide aficionado, Chris Harris, has filled one of the spots on Top Gear. Harris, along with co-host Rory Reid, pitted the Alfa Romeo against the BMW in the most recent episode of the motoring programme. As BMW Blog points out, the Alfa handily beat the Bimmer around the show’s Dunsfold Aerodrome test track, clocking in a time that was two tenths of a second faster. Take that, Germany.
It should be noted that BMW offers a Competition Package with its M3 that boosts output of the turbocharged inline-six from 419 horsepower to 450, nets you some nice 20-inch weels, stiffens the chassis a tad and livens up the exhaust note. The M3 that Top Gear got its hands on wasn’t equipped with said Competition Package, so the results of this comparison might be different if it were. We get the feeling Harris and Reid would still take the Alfa, though.
