American Exhibition Vehicles has been making rugged, beefed up versions of already tough vehicles for 20 years now and has marked the special occasion with the debut of the extra-tough, limited edition Ram Prospector XL.
AEV debuted the Ram Prospector last year, which is based on the Ram 2500/3500, and has expanded on the brutish pickup with the XL, which boasts 40-inch tires (compared to the standard Prospector’s 37-inch rubber), commemorative logos and special body side decals.
Other add-ons making Ram Prospector unique from standard versions of the Ram HD include fender flares, an AEV Premium Front Bumper with an integrated 4-inch brush guard, 30,000 lbs iron tow hoops, a Warn 16.5ti winch, an AEV air intake, a rear differential guard and a Vision X LED light bar. Most prominent is the AEV DualSport suspension, which includes a 3-inch lift and has moved the front control arms forward 3-inches.
The Ram Prospector XL pictured here is based on the Ram 2500 Big Horn and features the Cummins diesel inline-six engine. AEV says the Prospector XL kit will add about $25,000 to the price of a 2017 Cummins Ram 2500. Just 20 units will be built.
