A pre-production prototype for the mildly updated 2018 Ram Heavy Duty line of pickups has been spotted by TFLTruck ahead of its debut later this year.
The pre-production prototype spotted was covered in secret concealing camouflage, however the location of the camo is telling as to what will change on the HD Ram for the 2018 model year. The camo covers the grille and headlights mostly, pointing to the updated truck receiving different headlamps, an updated grille and potentially a new hood.
Ram by far and away has the most out-of-date line of HD trucks and all-new versions won’t arrive until 2021. This update will help keep the pickup relevant against its vehicles like the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Heavy Duty trucks and the Ford Super Duty. In addition to updates to the exterior, the interior will also likely be updated. There’s also rumors the Cummins inline-six will produce as much as 1,000 lb-ft of torque in the revised Ram HD, while the 5.7-liter V8 engine will be dropped from the lineup entirely.
