In the first Super Bowl LI ad for the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia, entitled ‘Riding Dragons’, the automaker’s reinvention of itself for its return to the U.S. market was highlighted. The second Alfa Romeo spot to air during the football telecast on FOX, ‘Dear Predictable’, focused on the Giulia’s originality in regards to its competition. The third and final ad, called ‘Mozzafiato’, focuses on what is potentially the Giulia’s strongest trait: its appearance.
According to Alfa Romeo, ‘mozzafiato’ means to take one’s breath away. The Giulia’s far from the only car with svelte curves that will succeed in removing your breath, but it’s the only car that’s exciting enough to get your heart racing and give you your breath right back again, the automaker says. It’s a big claim to make in front of the huge Super Bowl LI audience, but Alfa Romeo has every reason to be confident in the well received Giulia and Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde. If they succeeded in selling their claims to American consumers, there will be many BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz owners heading to their local Alfa dealer to book a test drive.
