2017 marks Mopar’s 80th anniversary and the company is planning on celebrating the milestone all year long with special events and new product introductions. The year-long celebration will also include the debut of new Mopar special-edition vehicles, with the first, the 2017 Dodge Challenger Mopar Edition, making its debut this week at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.
A total of 160 Challenger Mopar Editions will be built, with the first 80 being finished in a two-tone Pitch Black/Contusion Blue scheme and the others painted two-tone Black/Billet Silver. Other unique exterior touches include a hand-painted Mopar 392 logo, Pitch Black low-gloss accents, Hellcat exhaust tips and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
Mopar has also lent its corporate colors to the interior with Tungsten Mopar logos embroidered on the seatbacks, Tungsten stitching and Tungsten door panels and interior segments. The vehicle will also come with a special Mopar box that includes a Moapr welcome letter, a ‘Birth Certificate’, a hand signed Mopar ’17 rendering, a special Mopar ’17 booklet, Mopar valve stem caps and other Mopar-branded items such as a key chain and 80th anniversary badge.
The only available powertrain for the Mopar Challenger is comprised of Dodge’s 485 horsepower 6.4-liter HEMI 382 V8 engine and Tremec six-speed manual transmission. Mopar has also included some performance parts as standard including a Mopar cold-air intake aided by a Hellcat air-catcher duct, Mopar strut tower braces and four-piston Brembo brakes at all four corners.
The 2017 Dodge Challenger Mopar edition will begin arriving at select dealers across the United States and Canada in the early second-quarter of 2017.
