This week Fiat Chrysler pulled the veil from the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon, a special edition Wrangler that offers additional off-road capability and more aggressive looks over the standard Wrangler Rubicon.
The Wrangler Rubicon Recon is set apart by its model exclusive dark-colored 17-inch wheels, half-inch suspension lift, low gloss black grille, red tow hooks and low gloss rear taillamp covers. The extra off-road prowess comes via heavy duty cast front and rear differential covers, a stronger front axle and enhanced off-road rock rails.
Complimenting the red exterior features are red cabin details such as red seatbelts, red accent stitching and red door netting. Leather seats with red stitching and embroidered ‘Rubicon’ decals are also standard.
Let us know if you think the Rubicon Recon is Hot or Not by voting and commenting below. In our opinion, the Recon is a bit of a low-effort pitch to sell more Rubicons at the last minute before the Wrangler JL arrives, but we’d be lying if we said we didn’t like its red accents and Gobi-colored exterior pictured here. Off-road enthusiasts will also appreciate the arrival of the Recon, especially once the more expensive Wrangler JL arrives, so we’ll give it the FC Authority ‘Hot’ designation.
