Maserati is recalling certain Quattroporte, Ghibli and Levante models over an a seat wiring issue that presents a fire risk.
The defect: adjusting the front seats may cause the seat wiring harness to rub, possibly resulting in an electrical short.
The hazards: an electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.
Affected vehicles: 2014-2017 Quattroporte, Ghibli, and Levante.
Number of vehicles affected: 39,381 vehicle (United States figure).
The fix: Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles, replacing the seat wiring harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 21, 2017.
