The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL may not be slated for a debut until late this year, but Fiat Chryslr CEO Sergio Marchionne is already making big promises for the all-new off roader.
In a recent question and answer session with media at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit last week, Marchionne said the Wrangler JL is a flawless vehicle.
“It’s a perfect car,” Marchionne said. “It fixes all the problems of the old car and it keeps the identity of the Wrangler.”
It’s not clear what Marchionne is referencing when he refers to the Wrangler JK’s “problems,” but we have a few ideas. An unrefined on-road ride, cheap feeling and boring looking interior and lack of powertrain options are all issues we’re sure FCA has recognized on the Wrangler spent time working to remedy with the new model.
Jeep buyers will welcome those changes with wide open arms so long as the Wrangler JL retains tits typical Wrangler charm, and Marchionne assures this will be the case. We’re inclined to believe him – a six-speed manual transmission, live axles, removable doors and a variety of roof configurations are all rumored to be on the table. And don’t forget about the inbound pickup truck the all-new Wrangler will inevitably spawn, either.
