Eric Clapton is one of the many celebrities known to keep a stable of Ferraris around at all times. ‘Slowhand’ lays claim to some of the most sought after automobiles to ever leave Maranello and even paid $4.7 million for the automaker to build him a one-off Ferrari 458 inspired by the 512BB called the EC SP 12. As far Ferrari enthusiasm goes, Clapton’s right up there with Nick Mason and Ralph Lauren.
The legendary F40 was one Ferrari Clapton figured he could do away with, however. The musician once owned the flagship supercar but sold it in 2003 after four years of ownership. Now, the individual who purchased it from Clapton has placed it up for sale through the United Kingdom’s GVE London and at £925,000 (roughly $1 million USD), it’s a pretty good deal.
Part of the reason behind the relatively inexpensive price may be the mileage. Clapton, the first two owners and the current owner all enjoyed the car, putting a combined 6,750 miles on the odometer. It underwent a full fuel system refresh in 2008 and is offered with extensive service records and MOT history. It’s also in the process of being certified by Ferrari Classiche.
