A pre-production prototype for the Dodge Durango SRT has been spied testing ahead of the performance SUV’s expected debut later this year.
Dodge is preparing to apply some mild revisions to the Durango for 2017, with the performance SRT variant expected to arrive with the update. Dodge hinted at the eventual arrival of Durango SRT with the debut of the Durango Shaker Concept at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, but has so far refrained from coming out and confirming its eventual arrival.
The spy photos show a white Durango with camouflage covering the grille, hood, front fenders and lower bumper. If you look closely, you’ll notice the redesigned grille and front bumper are identical to those pictured on the Durango SRT prototype that was spied in April of this year.
Like the Durango Shaker Concept, the Durango SRT will likely pack FCA’s 485 horsepower 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine under its hood. Paired with the power plant will be an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Brembo brakes, such as those featured on the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, may also be present.
