A common complaint of the Dodge Challenger has always been its size and weight relative to its rivals, the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang. The 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon SRT will finally address that issue, however, as revealed in the latest teaser video for the pony car entitled ‘Reduction.’
The Demon will be unveiled at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April, however Dodge will dole out new info on the car in the weeks leading up to the show through the site ‘www.IfYouKnowYouKnow.com‘. ‘Reduction’, embedded above, shows the car undergoing a fictional weight reduction process that appears to address the brakes, parts of the front and rear suspension, the front and rear seats, sections of the chassis and more.
We imagine the Demon SRT will feature lightweight wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, lightweight front seats and deleted rear seats and various lightweight carbon fiber parts. Chevrolet stripped a claimed 300 lbs from its fifth-generation Camaro when engineering the Z/28, and Dodge is chasing similar targets with a rumored 200 pound weight reduction in store.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon SRT will debut on April 12th, 2017. Be sure to check back between now and then as Dodge releases more information on the purpose-built factory drag racer.
