The Maserati Levante is touted as a true all-rounder. Switch the drive mode into the crossover’s off-road setting and it will easily climb a steep, slippery grade. Turn it over into the sport setting and you won’t be far off a similarly equipped Maserati Ghibli on the race track. That’s what Maserati wants you to believe, at least.
In his recent review of the Levante diesel, Evo Magazine founder Harry Metcalfe set out to see the Levante truly has the real-world usability as advertised. Metcalfe lives on a farm and attempted to take the Levante on some of the steeper, more demanding off-road sections of his property before pulling it onto some twisty British back roads to see what it can do dynamically. It’s safe to say he wishes he was given a gasoline variant, but unfortunately for the UK, their stuck with the diesel Levante only.
